Chapter 4: Adult-night and a crazed man killing us?!
“I see. You think we should form an alliance and together, you think we may just defeat Argost with our combined strength.” Doc said. Arthur nodded. “We might just have enough power to defeat him this way.” Doc looked thoughtful as he thought it over. “You really think we can defeat him by working together?” Lily nodded. “You see, we’ve tried many times to defeat him, but we realized that our strength wasn’t enough. If we can work together, we can defeat him and keep the cryptids a secret from the human race.” Doc pondered over it, trying to think. “It might just work. We couldn’t stop Argost alone, but together, we might just have the advantage!”
Drew said, “Doc, is that a yes?” Doc smiled and said, “We would like to work together with you.” Arthur gave a huge grin. “That’s great! We have our own aircraft so we won’t bother you at all.” Danni grinned liking what she was hearing. “So this means we can hang out?” Doc said, “Well….” Zak began to complain. “Common, dad! Please?” He sighed, giving into the young children, “Alright. Just make sure not to disturb me when I’m working.” “Alright, thanks dad!” Zak said proudly. “Thank you, Mr. Saturday!” Danni said happily. “Wanna play video games?” Zak asked as Danni grinned and replied, “Great! That would be awesome!”
The two young kids ran off to the game room, where they began to compete against each other. “Hah!!! I beat you!!!” Danni said happily after 20 minutes of video games. “No fair!!!!” Zak complained. “You played this already!!!!!!” Danni grinned sheepishly. Zak said, “Aha! I knew it!!!!!!!! You did play this game!!!!!” He grinned as Danni gave a light blush. “OK, I did….” Zak said, “Ha!!!!” He smiled and in one swift moment, Danni had pinned him down and said, “Ha! Didn’t expect that did’ya?” Zak said, “No far!!!!! I didn’t know you were going to do that!!!!” Danni grinned. “All’s fair in love in war.” “what???” Zak said. “Just quoting William Shakespeare.” Danni replied. Zak smiled.
Danni said, “Any news so far??” Zak shook his head. So far, Argost hadn’t planned his attack yet so they were safe. Danni grinned happily. “Alright then!!!!” “Kids!!! Come here for a second!!!” Arthur called. The two youngsters raced down to the adults, finding them all dressed formally. Drew was dressed into a nice thigh-length black spaghetti strap dress with black heels and her hair pulled back into a ponytail with a gold bracelet and a diamond drop necklace. Doc wore a black tux with a white collared shirt and a black tie.
Lily wore a blue tube dress with her hair pulled into a high curly ponytail, wearing blue heels with a silver bracelet and sapphire drop necklace. Drew wore golden circle earrings while Lily wore silver hop earrings. Arthur wore a black tux with a white collared shirt and a blue tie. They all smiled at the confused kids. “What’s going on??” Danni asked. Lily smiled. “We’re going out to eat and discuss some things with Zak’s parents. We’ve got a babysitter for you both since I know you both won’t like it. Emerald and Doyle along with Lance, took Cody, Madison, and Connor out to play. You both wouldn’t go anyways. They’re out to the park.” She said as the two kids cringed. “Nope, not at all.” Danni said. “So, we’re home alone??” She asked hopefully.
“Nope. We’ve got a babysitter for you both so be happy. You’ll be spending time with Xavier. He’s a new scientist, so help him out and listen to his brilliant ideas.” Arthur said. “Aw….” Danni said. “Why can’t we be home alone??” Zak nodded in agreement. “Why can’t we???” The four parent adults looked at the two kids. “Because last time, Danni, you were home alone, you wrecked the entire home apart.” Lily said. “And Zak, you let a rare crpytid-eating insane man into the house and almost had him eat Fiskerton.” Doc said. The two kids blushed and said, “Oh….” Drew said, “So we got you both a babysitter.”
“This is so unfair…” Danni mumbled. Zak mumbled, “Tell me about it….” The parents smiled, going onto the roof of the house. “We’ll see you in a few hours!” Arthur said as a strange aircraft ship landed and a man who looked in his mid 20’s with black hair and green eyes wearing a white lab coat with blue pants and a long sleeve white collared shirt and a black tie with black shoes smiled at them and spoke. “Hello, Drew, Lily. You ladies are going out to eat with Doc and Arthur??” He chuckled. Lily smiled. “Of course, Xavier. Or else we wouldn’t called you in to watch our kids.” He smiled again and said, “Of course. Well, have a fun night, you four. I’ll be sure to take good care of your children.” Drew nodded. “Ok then.” Lily smiled. Arthur said, “Make sure you do, Xavier or there will be a world of trouble for you.” “Got’cha.” Xavier said. Lily, Drew, Arthur, and Doc walked into their aircraft and left.
Xavier turned to the two youngsters staring at him curiously. He smiled. “Ah, you must be Zak and you must be Danni. So, what do you two kids wanna do tonight??” He asked. They grinned. “Games!!!!” Xavier laughed. “Alright then. Let’s go.” They smiled happily, running back downstairs as Xavier followed them. Wolf, Danni’s pet and cryptid sister, looked out below where the Saturday’s house was protected by the shields. She gave a low huff and turned around, walking back downstairs. Minutes after she had gone back, a shadow emerged from the rocky cliffs of the house and a strange howl was heard. Inside, Danni said, “Did you hear that noise??” Zak said, “Probably just the wolves.” Danni shrugged and nodded as they continued on with their video game.
They continued to play as the strange shadow broke into the secured house with ease. Venturing downstairs to the power room, the creature grabbed a metal pole and stuck it into the power system, causing the house to lose power. “what the heck happened?!” Zak exclaimed. “Power outage??” Danni suggested. “Aw man!!!” Zak muttered. “Stay here, kids. I’ll go check it out.” Xavier said, getting up. He walked down the hallway with a flashlight, going down to the power room. As soon as he’d stepped into the power room, he pulled out the long metal pole. “Huh? That’s strange. Oof!” He fell forward, unconscious from the blow the shadow landed onto him. The creature dragged him off, leaving the flashlight behind.
Danni looked at her watch which shows that it had been 10 minutes since Xavier left to the power room. “Where did he go?” Danni asked. Zak shrugged. “I donno…But it doesn’t take this long to go check out the power room at all.” Danni smiled a bit. “Should we go check then??” Zak nodded excitedly and said, “Sure!!!” Danni smiled and followed Zak down to the power room. The two young kids walked in, only to find the flashlight Xavier left behind. “…I have a bad feeling, Zak.” Danni said anxiously. “Maybe he just went to check out some other things. Why don’t we just like, go play around until he gets back??” Zak suggested as Danni nodded a bit.
Zak led her back upstairs to Fiskerton and the three began to have fun. They watched a horror movie on Danni’s wireless laptop, but she got frightened which was good for Zak because she would accidentally cling to him. They then went to play a game of tag in his mother’s underground plant room. They played against each other in the remote-controlled robots and fortunately for Zak, he beat Danni. After the long hours of playing, the two kids fell asleep on the couch beside each other. Danni was leaned against Zak and his arm was sort of around her shoulders. They slept peacefully, unaware of the shadow lurking in the house…
In the other end of the house, a mysterious shadow loomed around the dark house, walking down to the other end where Danni, Zak, Fiskerton, Komodo, and Wolf were. As the moonlight shone into the shadow, it revealed a strange man with red eyes and jet black hair covering one of his red eyes. His clothes were as black as the darkest night and consisted of a sleeveless black muscle shirt, a black cloak, black pans, and combat boots. His creepy red eyes scanned the house as he looked around, walking towards the other end of the big house. He seemed determined on one goal as he looked quite handsome, lookig maybe about 16 years old. He seemed cold, emotionless, and murderous as he walked throughout the house, as if searching for a target.
It seemed he was going after the kids as he entered the living room quietly upon the sleeping kids. He hid off as he watched them sleep soundly, tired from their night of play. He chuckled darkly to himself, whispering in a voice that sent chills down anyone’s spine, the voice was so cold…so unfeeling…”Sweet dreams, kids…..” As if hearing him, the two kids bolted upright, Danni knocking Zak’s arm off her shoulders in the process. The two children looked aroun, not seeing the man. They seemed insecure. “Why hasn’t Xavier returned yet??” Danni said anxiously. Zak said, “I don’t know…there’s something wrong here….” Danni nodded in agreement. Nothing seemed to frighten her more than being in the dark.
Zak said, “Hey, we’ll be ok!!! Don’t worry, Danni.” She smiled at his effort to comfort her. “Thanks, Zak.” He blushed lightly, and stammered, “T-Thanks.” She smiled and looked around. “I could’ve swore I heard someone…or something here…” Zak nodded, “No kidding.” Danni looked around. She seemed frightened somehow. Zak looked at her sympathetically and thought, ‘Poor thing…She never stayed home alone without her parents before, huh?’ He smiled a bit. “Why don’t we go check it out then??”
She nodded, smiling. She felt somehow, safe around Zak. Maybe it was because he had been home alone before and he had much better knowledge on what to do. Zak walked around the house with the flashlight, still looking for signs of Xavier. They once again, found no signs of the man and began to worry. “Where did Xavier go???” Zak muttered quietly, feeling a bit scared himself. Danni held onto his arm so the two won’t get lost, she looked around. “I don’t know…He was downstairs in the power room…I thought he had gone to find someone to fix the power outage….”
Zak said, “That’s what I thought too…Something’s wrong here…Xavier wouldn’t go missing on us…” Danni nodded in agreement. “You think someone’s in this house??” Zak nodded. “This wouldn’t be the first time. Last time I was home alone with Fisk, a insane dude with surgery jaws tried to eat Fisk. Luckily, I got him out the house.” Danni smiled. “Wow….Sounds tough.” Zak smiled and said, “It was, but eventually, we managed to get him out the house for good.” Danni said, “That’s cool…”
Zak smiled and said, “Thanks.” Danni smiled, holding onto his arm so they wouldn’t get lost and said, “I’ve never been home alone before, so I get scared.” Zak said, “That would explain it. Don’t worries, it’s fun when you get used to it.” Danni said, “I guess….” She smiled as there was a noise down the hallway. She jumped slightly, still holding onto Zak’s arm. “Let’s check it out…..Stay behind me.” Zak said. Danni followed, following behind him closely.
They turned the corner and looked, shining the flashlight onto a figure and they both gasped, looking at the tall man who towered over them. The man looked down at them, grinning quite menacingly, before speaking, “Welcome, children…to your worst nightmare…”
